Sundar Pichai-1-1024x630Buffett announced that he was planning to donate more than 80 percent of his money to foundations that support charitable causes; in 2020 he raised that amount to 99 percent. The primary beneficiary was the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which was founded by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his then wife Melinda, which was primarily dealt with issues of global health and education. Bill and Buffett have maintained a close bond since the 1990s. The other organizations that received contributions included those run by Buffett's children and the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, named for his wife who passed away, which focused on women's reproductive rights and also funded college scholarship programs. In 2010, Buffett and Gates created the Giving Pledge. This pledge encouraged other wealthy people to give a large portion of their fortunes to charities.

Madison Elle Beer, a Long Island, New York resident was a musician and experimenter since she was ten years old. In 2012, Madison Elle Beer posted videos of herself singing cover versions of well-known songs. Justin Bieber, the pop idol, spotted her cover of Etta Jam's "At Last", and shared it with his 25+ million followers on Twitter. The publicity led to her signing a contract with a record label with Island Records, and then an agreement to manage Bieber's manager. Beer also starred in a small part in Louder Than Words, an independent film that starred David Duchovny. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the middle of 2013. Her debut single, the poppy, melismatic "Melodies," also saw release late that year.
